1. Introduction

Welcome to LingoMeow ("we", "our", or "the Service"). By accessing or using our website or application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and us. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

LingoMeow is an online journal with a cat living in it: you record your days here and, with the help of AI, pick up a language along the way. Features include, but are not limited to:

• Journal: write, add stickers and washi tape, decorate photos (cutouts, hand drawing, outlines); what you write is translated automatically, so each entry appears in two languages; journal pages can be downloaded as images
• Talking with LingoMeow, your AI companion: chat in the language you're learning and ask her to explain things; polish sentences (Magic Wand); have the sentences in your journal checked (Let LingoMeow have a look)
• Images: turn photos into Polaroid cards (Image roast); recognise text in images (Image-to-text)
• Writing and read-aloud: turn text into speech, read along sentence by sentence, and export audio
• Word lookup and vocabulary book
• LingoMeow's little collection: cards with museum pieces, poems and small discoveries, which you can add to your journal or turn into an image to share
• Browser extension: read aloud, look up and translate words on any webpage, and save words to your vocabulary book

Some features have usage limits that depend on your plan — see the pricing page for details. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.

3. Subscriptions, Payments and Refunds

Paid subscriptions (Pro and Max plans) are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for your purchase: it processes your payment securely, issues receipts and handles applicable sales taxes. When you upgrade, your payment information is handled directly by Lemon Squeezy — we do not access or store your full credit card details on our servers.

• Auto-renewal: Your subscription will automatically renew unless you cancel before the end of the current billing cycle. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from your profile page or via the Lemon Squeezy customer portal linked in your payment receipts.
• Refund policy: Due to the immediate consumption of AI computing resources and digital content, subscription fees already charged are generally non-refundable, unless otherwise required by mandatory law or in the event of a significant system failure. Please make full use of our free tier to evaluate the Service before upgrading.

4. User Input and Responsibility

You may input text, images, or other materials into the Service ("User Input").

• You retain ownership of your User Input.
• You are solely responsible for ensuring that your User Input and any use of generated output does not infringe copyright or other third-party rights.
• The Service does not verify the legality of User Input.
• We do not claim ownership over your input and will not publicly display it, unless you actively choose to share it or it forms part of a Service feature.

5. AI Conversations

The Service provides AI conversation features for language practice. Please note:

• Your AI companion is an artificial intelligence, not a real person.
• AI-generated content may contain errors — please use your own judgment regarding its accuracy.
• Do not share sensitive personal information in conversations (e.g. ID numbers, bank details, passwords).

6. Generated Content

Content generated by the Service (such as translations, explanations, or audio) is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. You are responsible for how you download, store, or distribute any generated content.

7. Prohibited Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Upload or process materials you do not have legal rights to use (including but not limited to copyrighted works, trademarks and personal data)
• Intentionally infringe copyrights
• Upload, store or share illegal content (including any content involving the sexual exploitation of children)
• Upload content that infringes other people's rights, such as private photos or personal information of others shared without their consent
• Use the Service for illegal or harmful purposes

If we receive a valid legal notice or report about a specific item of content (for example, that it is illegal or infringing), we may review that specific item, remove it once verified, and let you know where the law allows. Where content is illegal, we may report it to the relevant authorities as required by law. To report content, email 📧 contact@lingomeow.com.

8. Fair Use Policy

To ensure a lightning-fast and premium experience for all LingoMeow users, "Unlimited" features are subject to a generous fair use policy. Accounts showing extremely abnormal or automated high-frequency usage (e.g., beyond the capacity of normal human typing) may be temporarily routed to standard models or paused to protect our server cats from exhaustion. 🐱

9. Quota Calculation (Rolling 30-Day Window)

Please note that "monthly" usage limits (e.g., OCR scans) for Pro and Max plans are calculated on a rolling 30-day basis, not strictly by the calendar month or your exact billing cycle date. This means your available quota is determined by your usage over the preceding 30 days (720 hours). This ensures a fair and continuous allocation of server resources.

10. Account Security

You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials (including your password) and for all activities that occur under your account. If you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account, please contact us immediately. We are not liable for unauthorised access resulting from your failure to safeguard your credentials.

11. Intellectual Property

All website content, design, branding, and AI-generated assets produced by the Service (excluding User Input) belong to Y&N Studio Ltd or its licensors. The "LingoMeow" trademark is registered with the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO).

12. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. AI-generated translations, explanations, and other content may contain errors and should not be treated as a substitute for professional advice, particularly in high-stakes areas such as medical, legal or financial matters. We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or suitability for any specific purpose.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Y&N Studio Ltd shall not be liable for any damages arising from User Input, downloaded or redistributed content, user's misuse of the Service, or reliance on AI-generated content.

In no event shall our total liability exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim (or zero if you are using the Service for free). If your jurisdiction does not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain liabilities, the limitations above may not apply to you.

14. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service if these Terms are violated, and to remove content related to the violation. Where practicable, we will notify you in advance at the email address registered to your account (except in urgent cases).

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from the Service should first be resolved through good-faith negotiation; failing that, the parties agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in these Terms affects any rights you may have under the mandatory laws of your local jurisdiction.

16. Entire Agreement and Changes

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the website or sent to you by email. Your continued use of the Service means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court or competent authority to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
